Charlie
Leslie Senior hails from the fisherman's village of Independence
in the Stann Creek District of Belize. Charlie has well over 30
years of offshore guiding experience and is considered world renown
in his knowledge of where the prize catches can be found. Indeed
men and women fly in from around the world to fish with Charlie,
to receive tips on perfecting personal techniques and to enjoy
the Belizean hospitality that Charlie guarantees will be extended
to each guest at his Kingfisher's Tarpon Caye Lodge. Kingfisher's
Tarpon Caye Lodge sits on a Mangrove Caye fifteen miles east of
Placencia, Belize, 40 minutes by boat transfer from the Placencia
airfield. |
For
January, Charlie advises to be prepared for average air and water
temperatures hovering around 82 degrees Fahrenheit / 28 Celsius.
The catches for the offshore regions of southern Belize, especially
inside the Barrier Reef, the cayes and the flats can include Tarpon,
Permit, Bonefish and Snook.
In
the following sequence of photographs taken by Charles Leslie
Junior, Charlie Leslie Sr. exhibits the art and beauty of his
fly fishing techniques in the flats just off Morris Caye.
