Every time
the trail takes me through the village of Placencia, despite
where my lodging accommodations might be located along the peninsula,
as soon as possible after I drop off my backpack I land on a
barstool at The Pickled
Parrot Bar, Grill and Cabanas. Indeed since the first time
I went to Placencia in 1996 and stumbled under the thatch roof
at the Pickle Parrot, it has been my watering hole choice in
Placencia.

‘Yellow Birds’, ‘Blue Holes’, ‘Belizean
Hurricane’ or the infamous ‘Parrot Piss’. And
if you are on a budget, try a ‘tropical rum punch’
